MONROE, La.– () has named SJ Tuohy as its next Director of Athletics. Tuohy most recently served as Deputy Athletic Director of Development at Oral Roberts University.
“We are thrilled to welcome SJ Tuohy to the bayou as the next Director of Athletics,” said President Dr. Carrie L. Castille. “SJ brings the energy and experience we need to take our athletic department into the future. He is passionate about this job and this university, and he is committed to serving in this role with excellence. We had a great candidate pool to choose from, and we are grateful to our selection committee for their diligent vetting which led to this selection,” added Castille.
Tuohy, a native of Memphis, Tenn., is a 2016 graduate of Loyola University Maryland where he played four seasons of basketball. He earned a master’s degree in humanities from SMU in 2017, where he played one season of football as a member of the specialteamsunit.

Ican’twait to get to Monroe withour athletes, coaches, and staff, and get to work!”
Tuohy began his career in college athletics asDirector ofFootballOperations at Arkansas from 2018-2019, and then asAssistantAthleticsDirector andDirector ofFootballOperations at Liberty University in 2020.He joined the UCF football staff in 2021 asDirector of Football Operationsand was promoted to Associate Athletics Director/Chief ofStaff following the 2021 season.In 2023, Tuohy became Executive Director of The Kingdom NIL, UCF’sname, image, andlikeness collective.He became Deputy Athletic Director of Development at Oral Roberts in November 2024.
As Director of Athletics, Tuohy will supervise ’s 16 intercollegiate teams that compete in the NCAA Division I and the Sun Belt Conference.
Head Football Coach Bryant Vincent has served asInterimDirector of Athleticssince August. Tuohy was selected by a search committee led by Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. MichelleMcEacharn.
"The committee had the difficult task of recommending the best candidate from a great pool of applicants, and we wholeheartedly believe SJ is the best candidate for ," said McEacharn.
Tuohy’s hiring is subject to approval by the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors.
